2013 can rest now

In a few hours, this year will be over. Already!

So let's put 2013 to sleep and hope 2014 will be just as good, if not better.

This is how my Dad watches TV

Have a glood slide into the new year, as we say around here. Gudde Rutsch am neie Joer!

Ordenando mis fotos antiguas, he encontrado este dibujo de Lapin. Por suerte, su imagen es intemporal.

I was organizing my old photos and I found this Lapin drawing. Fortunately, his look is timeless.

I think she was Russian

The first thing that attracted me to this person was the huge fuzzy pom-pom attached to her hat.

The second thing was her long orange-brown hair.

And then there were her long mascara-laden eye-lashes.

That's probably why she doesn't look like a teenage girl in my sketch anymore.

It's not clear from the sketch, but I absolutely loved the pom-pom!

Mariana de Austria

Mariana de Austria was portrayed by Velazquez, but she did not imagined that several centuries later, she was to be portrayed again.

Roberta in Seville

During the ¨Encuentro de dibujantes. Cronistas de las dos orillas¨ in Seville I had the chance to portrait Roberta, later on that evening and quite unjustifiably she cuffed me on the back of the head… she's never seen this drawing to this day… I wonder how Karma is working in this case, but lets just keep it rolling!

On his way to Clermont-Ferrand...

Luís Ruiz stopped in Barcelona to travel together with some other sketchers to the ¨Rendez vous du carnet de voyage¨ in France. We had dinner together and this is what came out…

Y una ¨lusitana¨

During the ¨Encuentro entre las 2 Orillas¨ in Seville this summer I caught quite mercilessly our dear Portuguese sketcher Ana Luisa Frazão.

Portraits of the "Rendez-vous"

We had great moments in Clermont-Ferrand (France) during the "Rendez vous du Carnet de Voyage" (the international sketchbook fair), and it was the opportunity to sketch some fellow USK and to have beers.

Even the cars without mercy...

At the sketchbooks fair, Clermont-Ferrand (France) with Tazab, Lapin, Cat Gout, Fabien Denoël and even the Michelin centipede. I've been respectful to Gérard Michel though !

Drawing Strangers.

Julia Kay's Portrait Party has been the best thing that has happened to me in a while. I know it's drawing strangers, but that makes it almost more fun (definitely less stressful) than drawing people you know!

I have been learning about my "style", or lack-there-of... And drawing what I see. Which is sometimes most definitely different than what others see!

I love drawing each and every one of someone's wrinkles. It really brings out the character of a person, don't you think? It also makes such drawing much more interesting to look at!

And it was a girl, no more than eleven years ...

Should He Divorce Me?

Maybe he should divorce me? Though, it does portray his likeness quite well!! Nah, he'd never divorce me over a terrible portrait. He says it looks better than photos taken of him.

I did this portrait this summer before PWOM (Yeah, I gave it an acronym, can I do that?) was a blog. Husband is quite often sitting with his computer like this. So it is a good way to sketch him, though, he seems to wiggle quite often!

I can't wait to show you some others soon!

The portuguese urbansketcher

Vicente Sardinha fell asleep for five minutes, enough time to be drawn without mercy, perhaps a couple of times...

Buscando entre los dibujos antiguos retratos de gente conocida ( que hace más gracia) , me he encontrado este grupo familiar. La verdad es que el parecido con los interesados es remoto, pero de eso va este blog ¿ no?

Without mercy...

Week of selfportrait series without mercy

I did an interesting exercise last year of doing a self portrait a day which turned out to be without much mercy as obviously there is a limit to nice expressions I can make. Here goes a whole week (not necessarily in order).  There are a mixture of techniques - pen, watercolour, ipad drawings...

So a slight overdose of myself that I don't think it will be repeated....
