Toilet mirror portraits

Reminiscences of Inma´s workshop in Seville, where I did my firt self-portrait. I did it again, now looking into my toilet´s mirror, changing face expression. Poor scary guy, "drawing with is left hand"...

Portuguese are like a plague, and when least expected they invade cities of Spain, spreading terror by outdoor cafes ...

NELSON&JOAQUÍN

El pasado fin de semana ha sido muy productivo en lo que se refiere a retratos sin piedad. Tengo una larga lista para compartir. Tengo para colgar aquí para todo el mes de Febrero.
Empiezo con nuestro querido Nelson Paciencia de nuevo. Cuando veo los retratos en el cuaderno de Nelson me apetece dibujar a la gente más deformada aún.
Joaquín G. Dorao estaba a mi lado y ha sido mi víctima en este experimento de deformación.

My past weekend has been very productive in reference to portraits mercilessly. I have a long list to share. I have for posting here for the entire month of February.

I begin with our dear Nelson Paciencia again, already known by here. When I see the portraits in Nelson´s sketchbooks I want mine even more deformed.
Joaquín G. Dorao was beside me and I used him as a victim for this deformation experiment.

A few portraits, and something that happened under a shower.

Here are a few ones made with a ballpoint pen on flying sheets of paper  at the end of the sketchcrawl, at the best moment (to my mind): the beer time.

Ricardô is another alcoholic sketcher from Clermont, as you can see on this portrait ( with a lot of mercy, for once), and while I was drawing him, he was telling us a terrific story that happened to his girlfriend under the shower a few days ago.

I didn't write the end of the story ( and wrote the story in French) for more suspense, but feel free to email him to know what happened.

I like to draw people.
I think it's an unique opportunity to share moments of intimacy that belong only protagonists of these secrets times.

Un hombre a una nariz pegado...

A mi equipo de esquí hay que sumarle una libreta de bolsillo y un boli de 4 colores. Con eso retrato a la fauna variopinta de los teleféricos. La narizota de este señor me encantó.

I ski with a pocket notepad and a 4 color ball pen. With that I portrait the colorful fauna on the cable cars. I loved the big nose of this guy.

¿Quien dijo compasión?

¿Compasión yo cuando se trata de un retrato? Venga ya.....aquí va la muestra de cuando estuvimos en Zaragoza jeje  (con el perdón ya concedido, claro....)

Buenas! Como últimamente no estoy muy de retratos, os subo unos apuntes que tomé en un De Vuelta con el Cuaderno. No os cuento quien es, si estabais allí (y despiertos) seguro que os suena, aunque sea por la coletilla. Y si, cuando estaba en la carrera era imposible estudiar con mis propios apuntes :P

Acabo de rescatar de una libreta estos retratos a bolígrafo de una reunión de evaluación en mi escuela. No sólo los alumnos pueden hacer caricaturas de los profesores, también los maestros las hacemos.
Aquí está el motivo...


I´ve just rescued some ballpoint portraits from an evaluation meeting at my school. Not only students can portrait without mercy their teachers, we (teachers) also do.
Here is the reason (sorry, in spanish) ...

 Ordenando mis fotos antiguas, he encontrado este dibujo de Lapin. Por suerte, su imagen es intemporal.

The Master, without mercy, after a tough discussion, few weeks ago in Barcelona!

I wanted to post them at the end of the summer... Better late than never, I suppose!

I think she was Russian

The first thing that attracted me to this person was the huge fuzzy pom-pom attached to her hat.

The second thing was her long orange-brown hair.

And then there were her long mascara-laden eye-lashes.

That's probably why she doesn't look like a teenage girl in my sketch anymore.

It's not clear from the sketch, but I absolutely loved the pom-pom!

Mariana de Austria

Mariana de Austria was portrayed by Velazquez, but she did not imagined that several centuries later, she was to be portrayed again.

Roberta in Seville

During the ¨Encuentro de dibujantes. Cronistas de las dos orillas¨ in Seville I had the chance to portrait Roberta, later on that evening and quite unjustifiably she cuffed me on the back of the head… she's never seen this drawing to this day… I wonder how Karma is working in this case, but lets just keep it rolling!

On his way to Clermont-Ferrand...

Luís Ruiz stopped in Barcelona to travel together with some other sketchers to the ¨Rendez vous du carnet de voyage¨ in France. We had dinner together and this is what came out…
